Connecting with locals
Connecting with locals is one of the best ways to experience the nightlife in Huatulco, Mexico. Ask around, make friends and get away from the hotel. We were fortunate to befriend some of the staff at our hotel, who offered to take us to the places they enjoyed and showed us the real nightlife of the town.
People love to dance
It is hardly surprising that people in latin countries love to dance. It is a big part of their culture. Once a cuban fellow asked me if I could salsa. When I said that I never learned he replied, “It’s like walking,” as he danced alongside us.
In Huatulco there is no shortage of nightclubs or live music, if you are looking to go dancing. You will also never have to worry about finding a dance partner.
Churros and other street food
Don’t be shy about trying the street food! If the locals are lining up for it, you should too. Freshly fried churros from a street vendor is the best late night snack between venues. The restaurants are also open late with outdoor seating to enjoy the cooler night air. Remember, street food is real food.
Tequila shots in Mexico
Getting the night started with tequila shots is actually not recommended. First, it is an amatuer drinking move. Tequila is meant to be sipped! If you are slamming it back, then you are probably not drinking quality tequila. Second, it’s not a good idea to get totally inebriated in a strange place. Don’t be that tourist.
